Monzo

Monzo went live in Spain on 2026-10-28, offering personal, joint, under-18, business and instant-access savings accounts with Spanish IBANs, Bloomberg and FinTech Global reported. Spain is Monzo's first continental European market. It follows a European banking licence from the Central Bank of Ireland in December 2025 and Monzo's Irish launch in April 2026. The launch opens a new revenue geography for Monzo outside the UK and Ireland.

Sky News reported on September 27 that US buyout firm Advent International is in discussions over a deal for Monzo that could value the bank at up to £10bn, alongside Monzo's early-stage sale talks with Nubank at £8-10bn. A private-equity deal may be viable only if the Nubank talks fail, and a VC-led growth round for European expansion is a third option. A second potential counterparty at the same valuation strengthens the £10bn reference mark for Monzo shares.
